  • The Office of Student Research is located in Rooms 385 and 386 John E. Thomas Hall (3rd Floor)
  • Someone is typically available from 8:00am - 2:00pm, but we suggest calling ahead during the summer semester, due to varying hours and work at other on-campus offices.
  • Please read the entire home page of the grant you are applying for to note deadlines and requirements. All Faculty letters of recommendation must be signed and RECEIVED by the end of the deadline day (15th of the month for OSR Research and Travel). We CAN accept faxed copies at 262-7672. Any letters of recommendation put in campus mail must be done so no LATER than two business days prior to a grant deadline date.

  • "Imagining the Blue Ridge Parkway for the 21st Century" Conference will be held April 22 -24, 2010 on the campus of Appalachian State University. Proposals are invited for individual papers, sessions, panels, roundtables, films, or posters to be presented at a two-day interdisciplinary conference focused on spurring, presenting, and discussing serious new research on the National Park Service's Blue Ridge Parkway.   • Appalachian Hosts Statewide 2008 Research Symposium. The Office of Student Research hosted the 4th Annual State of North Carolina Undergraduate Research and Creativity Symposium (SNCURCS) at ASU on Saturday, November 22, 2008. More>>
  • Graduate Students in the Communication Disorders Program at ASU present posters at the Annual Meeting of the Dysphagia Research Society. Fletcher Hietpas and Caroline Chandler presented posters to this prestigious research society with funded grants from the Office of Student Research. These students are mentored by Dr. Heather Clark in the Department of Language, Reading and Exceptionalities. More>>
  • 5 different types of research grants are available. Amounts range from $500 to $1500. Students can apply for an OSR Research Grant, a Be Active NC Appalachian Partnership Grant, a Public Service Research Program Grant, and International Student Research Grant, or a Graduate Student Research Grant. The Office of Student Research is a unit within Appalachian's University College. University College consists of the university's integrated general education curriculum, academic support services, residential learning communities, interdisciplinary degree programs and co-curricular programming - all designed to support the work of students both inside and outside of the classroom.
