The Office of Research, the Office of Student Research, and University Libraries are hosting an inaugural celebration of Faculty and Staff research called "RECAPP: Research & Creative Activity at Appalachian" on Friday, October 25, 2019! The event will be held on the fourth floor of Belk Library & Information Commons from 4:30 to 6:30 pm.
This event celebrates all research, scholarship, and creative endeavors - funded and unfunded - of Appalachian Faculty and Staff. During the event, faculty and staff will present posters, digital presentations, oral presentations, art, and/or performances. We anticipate having 30 slots for 30-minute presentations/displays/art pieces, 4 slots for performances (up to 15-minutes per performance), and 5 slots for oral presentations (up to 15-minutes per presentation).
Order of Events
- 4:30 - 4:45 pm | Event Kick-off! Provost's Remarks & Inaugural Chancellor's and Provost's Awards for Excellence in Research, Scholarship, and Creative Activity
- 4:50 - 6:30 pm | Posters, Oral Presentations, and Performances
- Food & Beverage will be served throughout
Please submit your research, scholarship and/or creative endeavor abstract to be part of this event here. Presentations will be chosen to display a wide range of topics and disciplines.
The deadline for proposals is September 3, 2019 at 12 pm. Applicants will be notified of presentation acceptance or declination by September 12, 2019 at 5 pm.
The Chancellor's and Provost's Awards for Excellence in Research, Scholarship, and Creative Activity honor faculty members for superior achievement in their fields. Recipients are either nominated by faculty, Chairs, Deans, and/or self-nominated, and are chosen by a committee of faculty members. Two awards will be given in this category per year. Please submit nominations for the Inaugural Chancellor's and Provost's Awards for Excellence in Research, Scholarship, and Creative Activity here.
The deadline for nominations is September 3, 2019. All nomination materials are due by September 17, 2019 at 12 pm.
