UNC System Funding for Undergraduate Research Proposals for 2020-2021 Academic Year

The UNC System is committed to increasing opportunities to engage undergraduate students in the research process. For this academic year, 2020-2021, the UNC System is committing a total of $75,000 for proposals that focus on one of the following: Course Based Undergraduate Research Experiences or CURE’s, Inclusive Excellence or Digital Learning. Award amounts range from $7,500.00 to $35,000.00.  Proposals may be submitted by one UNC System Institution or can be a collaboration with other UNC System Institutions. Details can be found on InfoReady with the following link https://appstate.infoready4.com/#competitionDetail/1821777. Questions can be directed to Dr. Becki Battista in the Office of Student Research (battistara@appstate.edu).

Only 2 proposals may be submitted from each institution. Therefore we will be hosting an internal competition.  Links can be found on InfoReady.  The following are the internal deadlines for these proposals.

September 16, 2020.  RFP’s submitted to the Office of Student Research for internal review.  Only 2 proposals will be moved forward.

September 23, 2020.  The 2 selected proposals will be submitted to AGrants.

October 1, 2020. The 2 selected proposals will be submitted to the UNC System Office.

Awards will be made by the end of October and money sent to the awarded institutions soon thereafter, in order to maximize the time researchers have to expend the funds by the end of the fiscal year.
