The Office of Student Research would like to encourage Students, along with their Faculty Mentors, to submit abstracts of research and creative endeavors (performance, plays, readings, exhibits, displays, etc.) for presentation at the 2019 State of North Carolina Undergraduate Research and Creativity Symposium (SNCURCS) to be held at Duke University on Saturday, November 23, 2019.
The call for abstracts will run through October 21, 2019. Faculty Mentors must approve the abstract for its final acceptance at this event. Students, please work with your Faculty Mentors to submit the abstract in order for them to review and approve the abstract for acceptance.
To submit an abstract or for more information please visit http://www.sncurcs.org.
If students need funding from the Office of Student Research to assist with the cost of presenting at this event, they MUST apply for OSR travel grants for SNCURCS by the October 15 monthly deadline. OSR can reimburse students for dinner on Friday night if staying overnight (breakfast and lunch on Saturday are provided by the conference host), private car mileage if the student is driving (you cannot claim mileage if you are riding with someone else or in a provided van), the registration fee, and lodging. As usual, with any OSR Travel Grant, all expenses are reimbursements after travel has taken place (registration, hotel). We utilize the university subsistence rates for meals and miles https://controller.appstate.edu/travel-subsistence-rates). Grants can be submitted without having the abstract accepted however, final acceptance will be required before reimbursements are provided.
Students must register on their own and pay individually – do NOT select the group option when registering.
Please click here for the OSR Travel grant homepage http://osr.appstate.edu/apply/osr-travel-grants. You must have a completed online OSR Travel grant AND Faculty Recommendation letter submitted to OSR by11:59 pm on Tuesday, October 15 to be eligible for funding.
If you have any questions about this symposium please do not hesitate to contact the Office of Student Research at 262-7655 or osr@appstate.edu.
